Prada in North Texas

Within the past five years, I’ve developed an obsession with Prada and their sister brand Miu Miu. Both brands exude sophistication, quirkiness, and an overall elevated aesthetic. About a year and a half ago, when I heard Prada was coming to North Texas, I kept an eye on the store in North Park ever since spring, when it was aimed to open. Recently, many store openings have been delayed, and Prada finally opened last week. I had the chance to check it out a couple of days after the opening, and I was captivated. I learned so much about the history of the brand and how much effort goes into each and every bag. For instance, Prada's Re-Nylon collection was introduced by Miuccia Prada as one of her first collections that distinguished Prada from its competitors, and it was widely loved. It was a blend of luxury and everyday items combined into one.

As soon as I walked into the store, I knew which bags I wanted to see since I had been eyeing them for so long, particularly the Suede Tote Bag. According to the Prada website, the bag is described as a “pragmatic and sophisticated tote made of suede embellished with elegant straps.” This bag is the perfect travel companion, and if I choose the large size, it becomes the ideal everyday bag. I was enamored and wanted to explore more.

A delightful touch was the champagne being served throughout the store, enhancing the luxury experience. We soon headed over to the men's section, where I was on the hunt for a small bag similar to the Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag. I was shown my options and immediately fell in love with the Leather Smartphone Case. It was small yet perfect for holding all my daily essentials, which I appreciated immensely. I kept trying it on repeatedly to see if I simply liked it or truly loved it — and I indeed loved this bag. I started adding bag charms; one of the things Prada is known for is their robot charms, and it is one of the cutest things I've ever seen. It’s so well thought out and evokes a strong sense of child-like nostalgia.

I soon moved on to ready-to-wear and instantly saw this velvet brown jacket that I fell in love with. It was perfectly cropped and fit in all the right places. I loved how it looked and how it could be the perfect staple piece for everyday wear. The main concern I had was its durability and how to clean and care for it. I have two dogs and a cat, and trust me, it’s always a nightmare dealing with them and anything.

Overall, I feel that the experience at Prada was superb, and I loved everything about it. I’m sure that as time goes on, I will develop a deeper relationship with the brand and an even greater love for it as well.
