On The Market For New Glasses
Lately, my vision has been worsening, and interestingly, I used to wear contacts but don’t anymore since I just disliked the feeling of them in my eyes for a long time. The entire process of putting them in and then removing them when my eyes became dry, along with needing specific eye drops for contact lenses, was just super annoying to me. It’s been about two years since my last eye checkup, and I feel like it’s time for some new glasses, as my current pair has seen better days. The hardest part is finding glasses that fit my face since so many frames are made for a more narrow fit.
My old glasses were from Warby Parker, which, in my opinion, provides some of the best high-quality glasses at an affordable price. They were called the Duncan in Oak Barrel with Riesling and were built for a wider frame. Lately, I feel like my face has gotten wider due to age, and I can feel the glasses pushing into my face now. It’s uncomfortable, and it seems like it’s time for a new pair of glasses. I have included a picture for you to see how they looked on me over the past two years. I remember when I got these glasses; I was both obsessed and hesitant. They fit my face perfectly and were just the right size. It was a departure for me, as I used to have a pair that was more round and thicker, which I was also obsessed with. Now, looking at them, I realize it’s time to mature and find a new pair that I will love and cherish.
Enter Oliver Peoples, a luxury glasses brand that creates handmade glasses in Italy. You might be wondering, why would I spend more on a pair of glasses when brands like Warby Parker exist? When I went to Warby Parker to look for a new pair, I couldn’t find any that I liked. They either looked too small or just didn’t fit my face the way I wanted them to. I searched high and low for a pair of glasses that would fit my face (i.e., LensCrafters, Peeper’s, and Warby Parker), but I never found any I liked until I stumbled upon Oliver Peoples. We have a store here in Dallas, and every time I’ve gone in, there hasn’t been a pair that I personally liked. This past week, I visited for fun and found a pair that I was obsessed with, but online it doesn’t seem like I can get them prescribed. I’ll insert a photo here; they’re called the Nev. The odd thing is that online it says they are made for a more narrow fit, but they seem to fit my face just fine. I couldn’t stop thinking about these glasses for so long, so I might bite the bullet to purchase them.
